About Aarti Ankalikar-Tikekar
She is currently recognized as one of the top vocalists of the younger generation. An exponent of Agra Gwalior Gharana further blended with a tutelage of Atrauli Jaipur Gharana under the guidance of Gaan Samradni Kishori Amonkar the renditions from Aartiji have hints and flavors of both the Gharanas which will leave you spellbound.
Endowed with a rich resonant voice, Aarti’s performances are marked by an excellent command over both the rhythm and the melody.
Aarti has performed at many prestigious conferences and festivals in India, as
- The Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav (Pune),
- The Malhar Utsav (Delhi),
- Pandit Mallikarjun Mansoor Pranam (Bhopal),
- The Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan (Mumbai),
- The Dover Lane Festival (Calcutta),
- The Shankarlal Festival (Delhi)
- At Madras Music Academy (Chennai).

- A recipient of a Central Government scholarship (1975-80)
- The Surashri Kesarbai Kerkar scholarship (1980-82)
- Gold medalist in Indian classical music, Thumri and Gazal and ranked first in All India Radio competition held during 1983 and 1984.
- Mayor Award Winner (2001)
- Prestigious Late Pt.Kumar Gandharva Sanman (2006-07) (M.P.)
Record Labels
Aarti has her to her credit a number of audio cassettes and CD recordings marketed by HMV, Polygram and Rhythm House. She was the main playback singer for the Sham Benegal film, “Sardari Begum.”
